NIO launches the ET5 electric car with a range of 1,000 km

The company unveiled a new ET5 mid-range electric sedan at its annual NIO Day event held in Suzhou, China this year.

The test mileage of Chinese light vehicles is more than 1,000 kilometers, and the price of the battery replacement version is less than 41,000 US dollars. It could become a big competitor to Tesla in China.

In addition, the company introduced new shipments and new feature updates through ET7, as well as NIO's global expansion plan.

NIO is an annual event that usually gives Chinese automakers the opportunity to showcase new models of electric cars.

NIO Day 2020 will take place in January 2021. But then the company released its flagship ET7 sedan.

At the time, the company said that this new electric vehicle would be the first of three electric vehicles to debut on the NIO 2.0 technology platform in 2022.

Last October, the company confirmed that this year's event will take place on December 18 at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center, west of Shanghai.

People are starting to speculate what the automaker might reveal this year. Especially the rumors about the cheapest ET5 sedan.

Last week the company began showing off at least one similar new car on the back of the ET7. During the event, the company officially released ET5.

The company shared more details about ET5 in a press release that was released along with the reveal. According to the vehicle's manufacture, the ET5 is designed for autonomous driving and integrates autonomous driving sensors into the chassis line.

Equipped with autonomous driving, Aquila Super Sensing and Adam Super Computing, the new ET5 enables the new electric vehicles to gradually achieve safe autonomous driving on highways, urban areas, parking lots and other scenarios.

The company said its self-driving feature will be rolled out gradually after the review. You can add it with a monthly subscription of $107.

The ET5 accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.3 seconds. The car also offers a braking distance from 100 km/h to a full stop of 33.9 metres.

It has a range of more than 500 km and a standard range of 75 kW. And a long-range battery with a length of 700 km and a power of 100 kW. It can travel more than 1,000 kilometers with a long-distance battery of 150 kW.

The interior of the ET5 is also equipped with PanoCinema, a panoramic digital cockpit with AR and VR technology.

The company has partnered with augmented reality hardware company NREAL to develop augmented reality glasses. The glasses can show the driver a screen with a height of 6 meters (201 inches).

There's also an all-new ambient light curtain with 256 colors and Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 sound.

The ET5 is priced at $51,450. The battery-as-a-service price is $4,468. Deliveries to China are scheduled to begin in September 2022.
