General Motors announces electric versions of the Equinox and Blazer

General Motors CEO Mary Barra (Mary Barra) has announced the electric version of the Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Blazer SUVs, both of which will be available in 2023.

The news was released during Barra's inaugural address at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2022, the company also showed off its Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup truck.

Most electric cars currently on the market are more expensive than petrol cars, although sales of electric cars continue to grow as more models become available.

General Motors hopes that more expensive electric vehicles such as the Chevrolet Equinox will speed up the transition to electrification.

With the introduction of electric versions of the Equinox and Blazer, Chevrolet is ahead of General Motors' plan to spend $35 billion to electrify its entire production line by 2040.

In addition, the company also produces Chevrolet Bullets, Hummer, GMC Sierra, Cadillac Lyric and Cadillac Celeste.

However, General Motors will only offer a few electric cars in 2021. There is still a long way to go from Tesla.

With models like the Model 3 and Model Y, Tesla controls about two-thirds of the electric vehicle market in the United States. Tesla sold nearly one million cars in 2021, setting a new record for the company.

In March 2020, General Motors launched the Ultium electric chassis. It is supposed to become the basis for the company's future projects for electric cars and to support the various products of its brand. These include compact cars, work trucks, large luxury SUVs, and performance cars.
