Thanks to Microsoft's pursuit of app companies, Windows 11 is expected to succeed Windows Movie Maker soon.

In the latest Windows update, the company is testing improvements to the search experience that will be rolled out to users in the coming weeks.

Microsoft has released a new build for Windows Insiders which, while not adding any new features, introduces two new apps that will soon be part of the standard Windows 11 experience.

One is called Clipchamp, a video-editing browser app that Microsoft acquired last year for an undisclosed amount.

She said at the time that she was considering integrating the app with the Microsoft 365 suite and was exploring the idea of integrating with Windows.

And Clipchamp isn't nearly as powerful as Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve. But for most Windows users, this may be an advantage. This is because it doesn't confuse them with features you don't need or even know how to use.

Instead, Clipchamp offers a set of templates along with a library of media, filters, styles, and transitions to help users create videos with multitrack audio with relative ease.

You can export your created videos to social platforms directly from the app. Microsoft says it includes a text-to-speech feature powered by Azure that allows content creators to add voiceovers in more than 70 languages. The app also integrates with OneDrive, allowing you to import and export files from it.

Windows 11 gets new apps

The second app that the company offers for Windows 11 is called Microsoft Family Safety. It provides parental controls for all the Microsoft accounts your family uses in one place.

This is similar to the current Microsoft Family Safety app for Android and iOS. The caveat is that it only comes pre-installed on devices running Windows 11 Home.

Microsoft says it has begun testing an update to its search experience in Windows 11. The experience highlights some fun moments in time.

This means that Windows will regularly update the Start menu's search box with items such as holidays, birthdays, and artwork. Recent searches are displayed on the left.

If you're signed in with a work or school account, you can use Microsoft Search to find files and contacts that appear in the same pane.

If you don't like the limit search feature, you can turn it off from the settings. Microsoft said it plans to test it in the Release Preview channel starting next week.

This latest version of Windows 11 also features several fixes and some cosmetic changes. These fixes update the look of things like the print queue and a few different icons to match the design language fluently.
