Microsoft enables Offline mode in OneDrive

Microsoft has announced the launch of an “offline” mode for its OneDrive cloud storage service, allowing users to access their stored files without an Internet connection.

The company announced on its official website that “Offline Mode” will be available to users of the web version of OneDrive, allowing users to browse, interact with and edit different files by renaming, moving or copying. In addition to the ability to open, edit, and save Office files, changes are synced when your Internet connection is restored.

Microsoft claims that Offline mode is still useful even if you have an internet connection. Because it allows users to store files in OneDrive and access those files over the network, freeing up storage space on the device, loading times when viewing and editing files in OneDrive are accelerated three times in a browser or app.

To access the new mode, users will need to install the OneDrive Sync app on their Windows or Mac devices to view files and folders and perform certain actions. If they need to open the file themselves, they can click on it and choose Available. Select "Offline" from the drop-down menu.

Microsoft recently paid special attention to its OneDrive service, introducing a new, redesigned version of the service's application and adding several benefits for Basic plan subscribers, including ransomware protection and password-protected links, as well as expanded capacity. The integration of the artificial intelligence assistant “Copilot” is also planned.
