| Still from Replaced trailer |
They say good things come to those who wait, and for fans of the stunning cyberpunk indie Replaced, that wait now has a definitive end. Sad Cat Studios has finally unveiled the official release date for its highly anticipated 2.5D action game, setting a launch for March 12, 2026.
The journey to this announcement has been fraught with challenge. First revealed with a breathtaking trailer in 2021, the game’s development was significantly impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine, where a portion of the development team is based. This led to a painful but necessary radio silence, making the studio’s confidence in a 2026 launch, expressed in August 2025, a beacon of hope for eager players.
That confidence has now crystallized into a concrete date. The studio confirmed Replaced will launch on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X/S.
New Trailer Suggests a Vision Fully Realized
Accompanying the date announcement is a new trailer that makes one thing clear: the extended development time appears to have been worth it. Titled “Dusk” after its haunting original score, the video offers the most extensive and polished look at the game’s world yet.
It reaffirms the unique fusion that caught everyone’s attention years ago: breathtaking cinematic pixel art, fluid side-scrolling combat, and a dense, rain-soaked cyberpunk atmosphere. The visual signature remains unmistakably Replaced—only now, it looks more refined and dynamic than ever.

In a statement, the indie studio addressed the lengthy delay head-on, suggesting it was ultimately for the better: “The journey to this point has been longer than anticipated, but it has allowed us to craft the game we truly envisioned—a truly special experience.”
The new footage showcases the protagonist, R.E.A.C.H. — a sentient artificial intelligence trapped within a human body — navigating the dystopian city of Phoenix City. The gameplay snippets promise a blend of exploratory platforming, visceral melee and ranged combat, and a deep, moody narrative.
Replaced will be published by Thunderful, known for bringing unique indie experiences to a global audience. The game is also still expected to be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, as part of its initial announcement.
For a title born from a vision of a grim future, its own future is now looking brilliantly clear. March 12, 2026, is the date to mark on your calendar.
