New Delhi, March 28 — Tecno has officially expanded its popular Spark lineup in India with the launch of the Tecno Spark 50 5G, a budget-friendly smartphone that turns heads with a design reminiscent of Google’s flagship Pixel 10 while packing a massive battery and military-grade durability.

At first glance, the Spark 50 5G appears to borrow a page from Google’s playbook. The rear panel features a horizontal pill-shaped camera island crafted from 6-series aluminum—a design language that made the Pixel 10 (currently available for $549 on Amazon) an instant icon when it launched last year. Tecno is bringing that premium aesthetic to the budget segment without compromising on structural integrity.

Camera and Performance

For photography, the device opts for a clean setup. It houses a single 50 MP primary camera with an f/1.85 aperture accompanied by an LED flash. Tecno has streamlined the lens arrangement, focusing on a high-resolution main shooter rather than cluttering the back with low-quality auxiliary sensors.

Selfie enthusiasts will find an 8 MP front-facing camera tucked into the display for video calls and social media content.

In a significant shift for the Spark series, Tecno has moved away from Unisoc processors. The Spark 50 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 chipset, a capable 5G-enabled processor aimed at delivering smooth daily performance. It is paired with up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. However, prospective buyers should note that there is no microSD card slot, so storage expansion is not an option.

Display and Battery Life

The 5G-enabled handset features a sizable 6.78-inch display that outputs at HD+ resolution. While the resolution is standard for the price point, the screen compensates with a fluid 120 Hz refresh rate—a feature usually reserved for higher-priced competitors. It also offers a 240 Hz touch sampling rate for responsive gaming and a peak brightness of 560 nits for outdoor visibility.

Where the Spark 50 5G truly flexes its muscles is in the battery department. The unit is powered by a mammoth 6,500 mAh battery, positioning it as one of the longest-lasting devices in its class. When it is time to recharge, the phone supports 45 W wired charging, ensuring that topping up that large cell doesn’t take all day.

Durability and Software

Adding to its rugged appeal, the Tecno Spark 50 5G comes with IP64 dust and water resistance, protecting it against splashes and particulates. It also holds a MIL-STD-810H certification, meaning it has passed military-grade testing for durability against drops, humidity, and temperature shocks. Additionally, it retains the increasingly rare 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the software front, the device runs Android 16-based HiOS 16 out of the box. While the brand has not yet provided details regarding the duration of software support, the inclusion of the latest Android version ensures users get the most current features at launch.

Connectivity options are robust for the segment, including dual-band WiFi with 4x4 MIMO supportBluetooth 5.3, and comprehensive GPS coverage.

Pricing and Availability

Tecno has positioned the Spark 50 5G aggressively in the Indian market. The base variant with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is priced at INR 16,999 ($179.63) , while the higher 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant will retail for INR 18,999 ($200.77) .

Buyers will have four color options to choose from: fantasy purple, ink black, mint green, and champagne gold.

For those interested in picking one up, the smartphone will be available starting April 3rd via Amazon. You can check out the official product page on Tecno’s website for more details, or head to the Amazon listing to place your order once sales go live.

With its blend of premium design, a massive battery, and rugged durability, the Tecno Spark 50 5G appears poised to make a strong statement in the crowded budget smartphone segment.
