Following an earlier leak that sent racing fans into a frenzy, Microsoft has officially unveiled a pair of wireless accessories to celebrate the upcoming Forza Horizon 6. The Limited Edition Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Controller and Wireless Headset are available for pre-order now on Amazon, ahead of the game’s highly anticipated May 19th release date. But while the bold, neon-drenched designs are meant to turn heads, not everyone is impressed — with some Reddit users already calling them outright “eyesores.”
A Controller That Screams for Attention
The Limited Edition Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Controller retains the same core specs that players have come to rely on: up to 40 hours of battery life, seamless connectivity across Xbox consoles, PC, and mobile devices, plus the familiar ergonomic shape. What’s new is the color palette — and “subtle” isn’t in the vocabulary.
Microsoft has wrapped the gamepad in a transparent cyan-blue shell, giving it a retro-futuristic vibe. A metallic D-pad adds a premium feel, while rubberized diamond grips should help keep things steady during high-speed cornering. Splashed across the casing are streaks of volt green and hot pink, and the rear battery cover proudly displays the Forza Horizon logo. All this extra paintwork comes at a premium: the controller is priced at $89.99.
According to the official announcement on Xbox Wire, Microsoft describes the color scheme as the “most vibrant” ever seen on a first-party controller. But over on the r/Xbox subreddit, the reaction has been far from unanimous praise.
User No-Pick-8943 didn’t mince words, calling the design “revolting.” Others noted that the Forza Horizon 5 special edition controller — with its muted yellow and black racing stripes — now looks downright tame by comparison. Of course, not everyone hates it. A handful of commenters appreciate the chaotic energy, arguing that Forza has always been about pushing boundaries. Still, the consensus seems to lean toward “love it or hate it.”

A Headset That Sounds (and Looks) the Part
For those wanting to complete the set, the new Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Wireless Headset is also up for pre-order at Amazon for $134.99. Like the controller, it builds on an existing, well-regarded foundation: support for Bluetooth LE, spatial audio formats including Dolby Atmos, and an estimated 20 hours of rechargeable battery life.
But Microsoft has added a few custom touches to help drivers feel the festival vibe. The headset plays exclusive track-inspired sound effects when powering on or pairing with devices — a small but welcome nod to the game’s legendary soundtrack. More visibly, the company went so far as to print custom graphics on the inside of the earcups. The same radiant cyan, volt green, and hot pink repeat on the exterior, though some observers find the headset more tasteful than the controller.
Special-edition wireless Xbox headsets are a rarity for Microsoft, so this new option is bound to draw collector interest. Still, not everyone is ready to switch. Redditor Morichh chimed in on the discussion thread to declare that the Starfield Limited Edition headset is “undeniably much better looking.”
Meanwhile, user Legomaniac316 offered a more tempered take: “The controller is a bit much, but the headset actually works. I’d wear those.”
Setting the Stage for Japan
Beyond the accessories, all eyes are on Forza Horizon 6 itself. The game is rumored to take players through the brightly lit city streets and charming countryside of Japan — a setting that racing fans have begged for since the series began. Whether the limited edition controller and headset accurately reflect that scenery is debatable. The chaotic neon splashes seem more inspired by a street racing underground than by serene shrines and cherry blossoms.
Regardless, Microsoft is betting that the gear will attract the same impressive pre-order numbers enjoyed by the game. With the May 19th release date fast approaching, both accessories are available now for pre-order.
