Kuro Games' hit open-world action RPG expands to Microsoft platforms with a massive new region, two five-star Resonators, and significant performance overhauls

Kuro Games aired its Wuthering Waves Version 3.5 preview livestream on June 26, 2026, locking in the launch details for its next major update, "Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns." The title hits consoles and PC on July 10, 2026. This launch also brings the title to Xbox Series X|S, alongside a new PC storefront footprint on the Microsoft Store.

During the stream, the developer dropped three promo codes—MECHANISMCITY, INTOTHEFOG, and REUNION—giving players 300 free Astrite units at Union Level 2. For comprehensive coverage on the technical specifications and system requirements, check out Notebookcheck's analysis for detailed hardware breakdowns.

The update anchors its map expansion on a fresh region named Mengzhou, known as the Land of Xuanfang. Players will hunt for exploration chests across four distinct areas: Xuanfang Hold, Xuan Peaks, Fang Peaks, and Yuan Hills. The new zone promises a distinct aesthetic from previous regions, with environmental storytelling that ties into the update's central narrative theme of memory and forgotten history.

New Resonators and Banners

Two new five-star Resonators anchor the upcoming character banners. Yangyang: Xuanling joins as a five-star Havoc Sword main DPS unit, trading in her older Aero support kit for a more aggressive combat role. This represents a significant evolution for the character, who has been a fan favorite since the game's launch.

Beside her is Suisui, a Glacio Rectifier user engineered around HP-scaling heals and damage buffs. Her kit appears designed to fit into the growing number of team compositions that leverage maximum HP as a scaling mechanic, potentially reshaping the current support meta.

Their signature weapons, Azure Oath and Firstlight's Herald, run on the companion weapon banners alongside rerun slots for older units Aemeath, Luuk Herssen, and Lynae. The main Rover gets an Electro element upgrade too, expanding the protagonist's versatility.

For character customization, Kuro is shipping premium outfits called Peppermint for Lynae and a brand-new summer look for Chixia. These cosmetics represent the developer's continued investment in monetization through aesthetics rather than power creep.

Technical Specifications and Performance Upgrades

Platform-specific tweaks handle performance upgrades differently across systems for the title. PC players get native Intel XeSS 3 Frame Generation support to smooth out erratic frame rates within the title. This is particularly significant for players using Intel Arc graphics cards, but the technology also works across compatible hardware.

Kuro Games also reworked the title's base file system, utilizing heavy asset compression to slash the overall installation directory by around 20GB. This marks one of the most substantial storage optimizations in the game's history, addressing community concerns about the title's growing footprint.

On Android and iOS, mobile players gain an enhanced Resource Cleanup menu. The interface now lets users permanently wipe unused voice localization data to claw back device storage. For players with multiple language packs installed, this could free up several gigabytes of precious mobile storage.

Audio and Dialogue Overhauls

A new audio configuration adds individual language mapping, letting players set a unique spoken language for each Resonator during open-world gameplay. This setup completely bypasses main story quests to keep the narrative uniform. Players who prefer certain characters in Japanese while others in English or Chinese can now customize their experience down to the individual unit.

Dialogue sequences get a new Full Auto Mode that lets cutscenes progress without waiting for user choice prompts. This feature should streamline the experience for players who primarily engage with combat and exploration rather than narrative branching.

Finally, the guidebook map auto-populates material nodes throughout Jinzhou, the Black Shores, and Rinascita, ending the need to place manual pins. This quality-of-life improvement addresses one of the community's longest-standing requests, reducing the friction of farming routes.

What This Means for Players

The Version 3.5 update represents Kuro Games' most ambitious technical overhaul since the title's launch. The Xbox Series X|S debut opens the game to Microsoft's console ecosystem, potentially bringing millions of new players into the fold. The Microsoft Store PC availability similarly expands accessibility for players who prefer that platform over Epic Games Store.

The storage optimization—saving approximately 20GB—is a welcome change for PC players who have watched the title balloon in size since launch. Combined with the mobile resource management tools, Kuro Games is clearly prioritizing accessibility across all platforms.

The July 10 launch date positions the update mid-summer, giving players ample time to explore Mengzhou before the fall gaming season intensifies. With the new region's four distinct areas, two new Resonators, and significant quality-of-life improvements, Version 3.5 "Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns" may represent the most comprehensive update in Wuthering Waves' history.

Stay tuned to official channels for additional details as the launch approaches. The promo codes MECHANISMCITY, INTOTHEFOG, and REUNION are available until July 5, 2026, so players should redeem them promptly to claim their free Astrite.
