| Apple is reportedly already working on a larger version of HomeView. |
A new leak suggests Apple isn't stopping at the HomeView. A premium smart home hub with a motorized, 360-degree display could arrive in 2027 or 2028.
Apple's first smart home hub hasn't even reached customers yet, but the rumor mill is already looking past it. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is developing a larger, pricier follow-up to the HomeView — one that mounts a 9-inch touchscreen on a motorized robotic arm.
The current HomeView, which retails for $299 on Amazon, is set to ship in the US on November 13. Apple currently has no plans to launch it in Europe. Even so, the company is reportedly already at work on a more ambitious model internally codenamed J595, expected to hit shelves sometime in 2027 or 2028.
What's New With the HomeView Max?
The rumored device could launch under one of several names, including HomeView Max, HomeView Ultra, or HomeView 360. Two upgrades stand out.
First, the display grows from 7 inches to 9 inches. Second — and more interesting — the screen is mounted on a robotic arm that can rotate a full 360 degrees. Combined with advanced voice recognition, the arm should be able to automatically turn the display toward whoever is speaking.
In practice, that opens up some genuinely useful scenarios. A family crowded around the kitchen counter debating a recipe could all see the screen without passing a tablet back and forth. During FaceTime calls, the display and front-facing camera could track you as you move around the room — a feature that feels like a natural evolution of Apple's Center Stage.
Not a Successor, but a Second Product Line
Bloomberg is careful to note that the robotic HomeView isn't a direct replacement for the standard model. Instead, it's expected to be a second product line positioned as a premium alternative. Functionally, it will likely mirror the current HomeView: access to Apple's Siri AI chatbot, smart home device controls, music playback, and video calling.
The original report, detailed in Bloomberg's Power On newsletter, also mentions a November 6 retail store reset that could hint at a Mac release date, plus reportedly rocky iPhone Duo preorders that may end up boosting iPhone 18 Pro sales. You can read the full newsletter here.
The Bigger Picture
Apple's smart home ambitions have been rumored for years, and the HomeView represents the company's most concrete step into the space yet. A robotic-arm version would push the category further — turning a stationary hub into something that follows you around the house. Whether buyers are ready to pay a premium for that convenience is the real question, and we likely won't have an answer until 2027 at the earliest.
For now, the standard HomeView is the one to watch. It ships November 13 in the US and is available for $299 on Amazon.
