| The HMD Vibe 2 Max is expected to pack a 108 MP camera into a particularly large module. |
HMD Global looks set to add another wallet-friendly option to its Vibe lineup, and a fresh leak has given us a pretty clear picture of what to expect. The HMD Vibe 2 Max has surfaced in high-resolution renders along with a full spec sheet, and it's shaping up to be an interesting mix of budget build quality and genuinely useful features.
The leak comes from reliable tipster @smashx_60, who shared the details on X. According to the post, the Vibe 2 Max packs a 6.78-inch IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. Perhaps more notably, the display is said to be free of PWM flickering — a detail that matters to anyone who spends long hours staring at a screen and finds OLED panels fatiguing. You can check out the original leak post here.
Design That Borrows From the iPhone 18 Pro
If the renders are accurate, HMD is taking some obvious design cues from Apple's iPhone 18 Pro. The red colorway, the rectangular camera module, and the slightly textured rectangular patch below it all feel very familiar. That said, the flat plastic frame and the thick chin below the display make it clear this is a mid-range device rather than a flagship.
What's Under the Hood
The Vibe 2 Max is reportedly powered by a Unisoc T9100 chipset with four Cortex-A76 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Keeping the lights on is a generous 6,000 mAh battery with 33 W USB-C charging. Software-wise, it's expected to ship with Android 16 out of the box.
Camera duties are handled by a 108 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50 MP selfie shooter, with 4K 30fps video recording on offer. Rounding out the package are Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, 5G connectivity, NFC, dual speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. Color options are said to include Black, Red, and Green.
Why the PWM-Free Display Matters
While budget phones often cut corners on their screens, HMD seems to be leaning into eye comfort here. PWM (pulse-width modulation) dimming can cause headaches and eye strain for sensitive users, so a flicker-free LCD is a welcome inclusion at this price point — even if it can't match OLED contrast.
The Bottom Line
The HMD Vibe 2 Max is shaping up to be a solid option for budget-conscious buyers who want a big battery, a high-refresh display, and a high-resolution camera without breaking the bank. Pricing and availability haven't been confirmed yet, but we'll be keeping an eye out for an official announcement.
