| The RedMagic 12 Pro does away with the punch-hole entirely. |
Nubia's latest gaming powerhouse brings the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a massive 8,400 mAh battery, and a notch-free 185 Hz display to international markets—and it can even run your Steam library.
The wait is finally over for mobile gaming enthusiasts outside of China. Following the China-exclusive debut of the RedMagic 12 Pro+ in mid-October, Nubia has officially launched the RedMagic 12 Pro to global markets. Priced starting at $949, this isn't just another annual refresh; it is a statement piece for 2026, doubling down on the "gaming first" philosophy with a spec sheet that borders on excessive—in the best way possible.
For those looking to dive straight into the specs and pre-order details, the official REDMAGIC 12 Pro launch page is now live. However, for the uninitiated, let's break down why this device is turning heads.
A Design That Refuses to Compromise
In an era where flagship smartphones are becoming indistinguishable glass slabs, the RedMagic 12 Pro remains unapologetically aggressive. It features a flat metal frame with very slightly rounded corners, but the real story is what’s under the hood—and on the back.
Nubia has retained the signature "cyberpunk" aesthetic, complete with a visible, RGB-lit cooling fan and vents. This isn't just for show. The elaborate dual-loop liquid cooling system (which is also RGB-lit, naturally) is designed to tame the heat generated by the phone's brain, ensuring that performance doesn't throttle during marathon gaming sessions. Despite packing an enormous battery and a fan, the device remains remarkably slim at just 8.5mm, and it carries an IP69 rating for water and dust resistance—a rarity for gaming phones with moving parts.
Display: A Notch-Free Canvas
The front of the device is dominated by a massive 6.85-inch AMOLED panel. Thanks to a 16-megapixel under-display camera, Nubia has completely eliminated the punch-hole or notch, offering an uninterrupted view for gamers and media consumers.
The specs are equally impressive: a 2,688 x 1,216 resolution (1.5K) and a refresh rate that hits 185 Hz in game mode. With full-screen brightness of 1,900 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 5,000 nits, visibility won't be an issue even under direct sunlight.
Performance: The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
Under the hood, the RedMagic 12 Pro is one of the first devices to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. This is the silicon that will set the benchmark for Android performance in the coming year.
While the "Pro+" model in China charges at a blistering 120W, the global RedMagic 12 Pro settles for 80W wired charging. Don't let that fool you, though—the battery capacity is a staggering 8,400 mAh. To put that in perspective, most traditional flagships hover around the 5,000 mAh mark. This device also supports 80W wireless charging, meaning you can top up this massive cell without plugging in.
PC and Steam Gaming on the Go
Perhaps the most compelling feature for PC gamers is the software. The RedMagic 12 Pro's "Game Space" includes the ability to play PC and Steam games directly on the device. While cloud gaming is becoming more common, Nubia's ecosystem allows users to stream their actual PC libraries to the phone, turning the device into a portable console.
Camera and Audio
While gaming phones often skimp on cameras, Nubia has provided a competent setup. The main shooter is a 50 MP sensor with an f/1.9 aperture (1/1.55-inch sensor), accompanied by a 50 MP ultrawide (f/2.0, 1/2.88-inch). The sensors sit flush with the body, a nice design touch. Stereo speakers, NFC, and dual SIM support round out the package.
Pricing and Availability
The RedMagic 12 Pro is positioned aggressively against traditional flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, offering significantly more gaming-specific hardware for less money.
The device will be available for pre-order from November 17, with open sales starting on November 18. If you are looking to grab one early, keep an eye on the official EU store, which is currently running an Early Bird promotion. Users who purchase a €1 voucher between November 12 and 17 will score a complimentary 80W USB-C charger and a free gift set.
