GSMA: MWC Conference to be held in Barcelona until 2024

The GSMA Association, which is hosting the MWC (Mobile World Congress) today said: The conference is the largest annual meeting of the global telecommunications industry and will be held in Barcelona in 2024 if the current contract is renewed for one year.

"By 2024, we will demonstrate our commitment to the ecosystem and the city we are in," John Hoffman, chief executive of GSMA, said in a statement. He added: "We are pleased to inform you about this. We have received strong support and early participation from many exhibitors to deal with future exhibitions."

It should be noted that the Mobile World Congress (MWC) attracted more than 100,000 people to Barcelona due to the Coronavirus Virology (COVID-19) and was one of the first victims in the industry. Health officials said it was safe to control him.

A local government source in Catalonia told Reuters: The one-year extension is related to the cancellation of the 2020 version of the event and has nothing to do with the ability to negotiate a new contract for the conference in Spanish cities after 2024.

After the contract expired, Perry Aragones, chief economist of the Catalan state government, called for a stronger alliance between the GSMA and the region, adding that there is only one way to regulate it, and the author extended the KMG to the year after 2023, the date on which the contract expired.
