Finally solve the most annoying Google Drive issue
Finally solve the most annoying Google Drive issue

Google announced a small but important fix for how Google Drive users edit Microsoft Office documents on the web.

Although Google Drive has long supported Word, PowerPoint and Excel documents, these file types will still run automatically in preview mode and won't allow users to make changes.

Now double click on the Office document (such as files: .docx, .doc, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm) stored in Google Drive and the file will be in open level edit mode. To open a file in preview mode, the user must select this option from the drop-down menu by right-clicking or double-clicking on the file while holding down the (P) key.

According to Google's blog, the only exception to this new rule is the password-protected Office file which will remain open in the preview.

This change may seem trivial, but it is only part of a major simplification of Google's productivity product, which has been renamed Google Workspace.

The decision to improve interoperability between Workspace and Microsoft Office is further evidence that Google is considering these two groups as suggestions.

Google stated that this change will speed up processing by allowing users to edit, annotate and collaborate on Office files directly using the Google Docs, Spreadsheet, and Slide Editor interface. Open the documents and start editing. Your changes are automatically saved to the file in the current Office format.

Unlike some of the new Google Workspace features that are only available to paying customers, this latest addition is available for both commercial and individual users.

The new feature has been rolled out to everyone on their way to quick release (workplace customers who want a new income as soon as possible). Accessing all other users begins on November 30th. .

It should be noted that in late August of last year; (Checkpoint) A cybersecurity report cited phishing activity that initially involved uploading a PDF to Google Drive and including a link to a phishing page intended to steal user passwords.
