Canon confirms development of the EOS R3 mirrorless camera

Canon has confirmed that it is developing a fast, powerful and female-free EOS R3 camera for news, sports and three new lenses.

As usual, prior to the release, the company kept key specs like sensor accuracy until it was released, but it revealed some details.

The EOS R3 is expected to be the first Canon camera to feature a BSI CMOS backlit. This means that circuits like sensor and RAM are integrated into the sensor for faster reading speed and smoother performance.

Sony is providing this sensor with the A9, and Nikon recently announced that it will use the BSI overlay sensor in its upcoming Z9.

When combined with Canon's Digic X image processor, the EOS R3 can shoot at 30 frames per second in electronic shutter mode while achieving autofocus and auto-tracking.

Canon also indicated that the camera can do this with a little bit of distortion, which is important because sports and action photographers often avoid placing electronic shutters on fast-moving objects due to the distortion caused by rotating the shutter.

The EOS R3 also offers eye-control autofocus. Canon used this feature in the EOS 5 in the 1990s.

The company said: This setting allows users to select and move their focus point in the viewfinder.

In this way, Canon aims to reduce focus time in rapidly changing situations.

There is also a professional chassis inspired by the EOS-1D Series. It provides excellent grip in both portrait and landscape positions and promises the same durability as the professional Canon 1D series, including dust and water resistance.

Canon did not disclose any other important details such as: B. Price, video recording status and sensor resolution.

Since it is designed for sports and news photography and has a set shooting speed, its resolution may not be as good as the 45MP R5.

Canon has also launched three new lenses: the RF 400mm f / 2.8 IS USM, the RF 600mm f / 4 IS USM, and the RF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro IS USM.
