Google picks the electric Jaguar I-Pace for its street photography

Over the next twelve months, the Jaguar I-Pace EV will be fully promoted by Google Street View Map in Dublin.

These cars collect photos of the road and monitor the city's air quality.

Google has partnered with Jaguar Land Rover on the project, making I-Pace the first fully electric vehicle with Street View.

In addition to installing street vision cameras on the roof of the vehicle, Jaguar engineers have also equipped them with sensors to measure air quality so they can perform the same tasks as street cameras. Street View of London 2018.

The Aclima Portable Air Sensor can measure NO2, CO2 and PM2.5 emissions in the air from street to street.

These cars should provide Google's search partners with the data they need to be able to produce street level air pollution maps.

Google is working with Dublin City Council on a project called Air View Dublin, which is part of the tech giant's work to map local air quality data based on the Environmental Insights Explorer program. This project can provide local governments with the information they need. They need to address climate and pollution problems in their city.

The company said air quality was a big problem, especially for cities, but there was a lack of local data and information for policymakers and citizens. As part of the project, we are using technology to capture this important issue. The data is presented in an accessible format to enable us to work with City Council and Dublin is the responsibility of the solution plan.

When asked if the company plans to use more electric cars in virtual travel, a Google spokesperson said: We are always looking for ways to improve our fleet and there is scope to increase the size of the electric fleet in the future, but there are options that there are currently no updates to share.

The I-Pace was introduced in 2018 and covers approximately 246 miles after a full charge (after a software update, the range increased in late 2019).

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Google has used electric I-Pace cars on a project, as Waymo also added electric I-Pace cars to its fleet of autonomous vehicles a few years ago. It is currently testing it with vehicles. . Autonomous driving technology.
