Facebook will soon begin testing ads on its Oculus Quest virtual reality platform.

Over the next few weeks, ads will appear in Resolution Games Blaston and two other unnamed apps.

Facebook launched ads through the Oculus mobile app last month and has been using limited Oculus data to serve Facebook ads since 2019. However, this is the first attempt to serve ads on the Oculus VR platform itself.

In a blog post, the company said, “Once we understand the progress of this test and incorporate feedback from developers and the community, we will provide more information about when ads can be updated. Update on the Oculus platform and apps. Detailed information is widespread.”

Just like in non-default Facebook apps, you can prevent specific posts or companies from appearing in an ad space.

Facebook has stated that it will not change the way it collects or analyzes user information. Only some of the most sensitive data is stored on the user's device.

He also made it clear that he does not intend to target ads based on motion data or recordings from his voice assistants.

A company spokesperson indicated that the system uses your Facebook account information and that you view, install or activate content, subscribe to the Oculus app, add the app to your cart or wishlist, or when you pay or purchase through Oculus. platform, or if you view, scroll, record, or click on an advertisement in a third-party application.

As mentioned above, the user can click and open the ad or save the link for later use. The first option opens a landing page in the Oculus Quest web browser.

The last option records ads in the Quest In-VR Experience and Exploration section of the Oculus app. Developers get some advertising revenue from their apps. However, Facebook has not publicly disclosed this percentage.

Facebook opens the future roadmap. For example, Facebook hasn't indicated whether ads can appear in the Oculus Home experience, the spokesperson said.

Facebook has not identified which other apps are receiving ads, but it will list more names in the coming weeks.
