Google has abandoned its small flagship Android phone

Google unveiled the upcoming Pixel 6 series earlier this month, which revealed the final design and some technical information.

However, we don't know much about the new camera or the new Tensor chipset co-developed with Samsung. But we have the new design in plain sight from all sides.

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro seem to be one of the most important updates to the Google Pixel family of products since HTC launched the first models from the factory in 2016. However, the obvious detail is the product setup.

Since 2016 (the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P can be said to have launched) the first generation of Pixel phones, Google has sold two flagship phones until last year: the regular Pixel and the Pixel XL.

In addition to the screen size, there are always differences, such as the smaller battery of the regular Pixel. But it has almost the same equipment.

If you want a Pixel phone, use the smaller option without losing any of its important features.

Google is one of the smartphone manufacturers interested in selling small phones.

In the past few years, the definition of a small mobile phone has changed all the time. Infinity Display helps provide a larger screen in a smaller frame. But anything with a screen less than 6 inches in diagonal is a small phone.

By that definition, the only small flagship phone to hit the market this year is the ZenFone 8, which comes with a Snapdragon 888 chipset and a 5.9-inch AMOLED display.

Google has been making Pixel phones smaller for years. The Pixel 3 screen is 5.5 inches and the Pixel 4 - 5.7 inches screen.

Google changed its approach last year with the Pixel 5, which is only 6 inches tall.

This year, the company has iterated on two flagship Pixel devices, but both aren't small. The company confirmed that the standard Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch screen, while the Pixel 6 Pro has a 6.7-inch screen.

The option to buy smaller Pixel phones appears to have gone with the new phones, marking the end of a tradition that Google has been a part of for many years.

The company is still able to make futuristic Pixel-A phones in a smaller size. However, these are inexpensive devices with poor internal hardware.

Due to declining sales, the number of small flagship phones is decreasing every year. Apple took advantage of that idea last year with the iPhone 12 mini, the company's smallest phone in years. However, information shows that the company stopped manufacturing mobile phones earlier than expected due to poor sales.

With the decline in mobile phone prices, the lack of demand for small smartphones seems to have changed. Apple is said to have no problem selling the latest iPhone SE, which costs $399 and has fewer features than the flagship iPhone.

Small phones aren't likely to be gone any time soon. But small flagship phones are at serious risk.
