| The Lucebox local AI workstation is now available for general purchase |
Lucebox has made it much easier to get its AMD-powered local AI workstation. The company is now accepting direct orders through its newly revamped website, meaning buyers no longer have to go through the old request-and-wait process.
Alessandro Puppo, Lucebox co-founder, confirmed the change in a post on X. He also gave buyers a warning: “Sadly, price increase is coming soon.” Puppo did not say how much more the workstation will cost.
Until now, buying a Lucebox was a multi-step process. Interested customers had to submit their intended workloads and quantity requirements, speak with the Lucebox team, and then wait for confirmation that production capacity was available before receiving a purchase link. The new direct-order system removes those hurdles. Users can now order up to five systems directly.
Lucebox Pricing and Availability
It is not cheap. The Developer configuration costs $5,999, which includes worldwide shipping and taxes. A Business package is also available for $7,999 and adds a year of Lucebox Engine Pro, white-glove installation, and direct engineering support. For the Business option, customers need to contact Lucebox support.

The Hardware Behind the Price
The specs are what make the price somewhat easier to justify. Lucebox combines AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo APU and 128 GB of LPDDR5X-8000 unified memory with a discrete Radeon AI Pro R9700 featuring 32 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Together, the system offers 128 GB of combined memory for local AI workloads — 96 GB from Strix Halo and 32 GB from the R9700.
The complete machine fits inside an 11.97-litre aluminium enclosure and comes with a 2 TB NVMe SSD, 5 Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, and a 1,000 W 80 Plus Platinum power supply.
Local AI Performance
Lucebox says it uses the combination to split larger models between the R9700 and Strix Halo. For example, the company reports running the 284-billion-parameter DeepSeek V4 Flash across both devices, with a claimed 86 tokens per second during decoding.
There is a caveat, though. Lucebox notes that its published comparisons involve different test setups and a different quantisation method. Users may need to fine-tune models themselves to find what works best for their workloads.

Direct ordering makes Lucebox far more accessible to ordinary buyers, but the looming price increase adds pressure to act sooner rather than later. For anyone considering a high-memory local AI workstation, the window to buy at current pricing may not stay open for long.
