Six months after Xiaomi first introduced the Watch S5, the company is expanding the lineup with a new size that should appeal to buyers who found the original model too large. The Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm has now arrived in China, bringing a smaller case, a sharp AMOLED display, and long battery life to Xiaomi’s latest smartwatch family.
The original Xiaomi Watch S5 is already available globally, currently priced at around $180 on Amazon. That model pairs a 1.48-inch AMOLED display with a 46 mm case. Xiaomi rated it for up to 21 days of battery life, although our own recent testing fell short of that claim. Even so, it remains a strong option for users who want a big-screen smartwatch with multi-day endurance.
A smaller Xiaomi smartwatch with familiar features
The new Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm keeps much of the same formula but shrinks the case down to a more compact 41 mm size. The display measures 1.32 inches, uses AMOLED technology, and offers a 466 x 466-pixel resolution. Xiaomi also claims up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, which should help with outdoor visibility in bright conditions.
Like the larger model, the Watch S5 41mm works with both Android and iOS. It also includes a built-in GPS module, making it a better fit for outdoor workouts, walking, cycling, and other activities where you may not want to carry your phone. Powering the watch is a 590 mAh battery, which Xiaomi rates for up to 14 days of usage between charges. Real-world battery life will likely depend on screen brightness, always-on settings, GPS use, and how many notifications you receive.
Xiaomi has listed the Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm on its official product page, while the existing global model remains available through Amazon. That makes it easy to compare the new smaller version with the 46 mm Watch S5 if you are deciding which size fits your wrist best.
Price, colors, and ceramic edition
In China, the Xiaomi Watch S5 41mm starts at CNY 1,299, which is roughly $195. At that price, buyers can choose from Black, Sea Salt Blue, and Taro Purple finishes. Xiaomi is also offering a Ceramic White version for CNY 1,499, or about $225. The ceramic option gives the watch a more premium look, though it also costs noticeably more.
The 41 mm model joins a growing Watch S5 series. Xiaomi has also introduced a larger Watch S5 Transparent Edition with a 47 mm case and a see-through finish. That model takes the lineup in a more fashion-forward direction, while the new 41 mm version focuses on comfort and a smaller footprint.
Should you wait for global availability?
That is the biggest question. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed whether the Watch S5 41mm will be sold outside China. For now, the smaller model appears to be a China-first release. If it does go global, it could be a compelling alternative to the standard Watch S5, especially for users with smaller wrists or anyone who prefers a lighter smartwatch.
For now, buyers outside China can still pick up the existing Xiaomi Watch S5 through Amazon. The 41 mm model, however, remains one to watch. If Xiaomi brings it to more markets, it could become one of the more interesting budget-friendly smartwatches of the year, combining a compact design, AMOLED display, GPS, and up to 14 days of claimed battery life.
