| Microsoft announced Surface Laptop 4 |
Microsoft today updated its Surface Series to Surface Laptop 4. You can now choose between 13.5 '' and 15 '' AMD or Intel processors.
Both sizes come with Intel's latest 11th generation processors or AMD's Ryzen 4000 processors.
Microsoft will launch Surface Laptop 4 on April 15 in the United States, Canada, and Japan. AMD model starts at $ 999 and Intel model starts at $ 1,299.
The price difference may be due to the fact that Microsoft is not using the latest AMD 5000 series processors here.
Instead, Microsoft will use AMD Zen 2-based chips for AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors.
However, the performance between Intel and AMD can be somewhat similar.
Because of these processor improvements, Microsoft promises to improve performance by up to 70% compared to Surface Laptop 3, and battery life can be extended.
Microsoft promises 19 hours of battery life for the 13.5-inch AMD model and 17.5 hours for the 15-inch AMD model.
Intel Surface Laptop 4 13.5 hours has a battery life of 17 hours, while the largest 15 ”model has 16.5 hours of battery life.
Both Intel models are equipped with Intel's latest Iris Xe graphics, so games like "Overwatch" can run at 1080p resolution.
Surface Laptop 4 keeps the same design as Surface Laptop 3 shipped in 2019.
There is a USB-C port, USB-A port, headphone jack, and Microsoft Surface Connect charging port.
Thunderbolt is still not supported and the M.2 NVMe SSD can still be removed from the slot on the back of the device.
The base 13.5-inch AMD model costs $ 999 with an AMD Ryzen 5 4680U processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage.
The 13.5-inch Intel Core model is equipped with an 11th generation Core i5 1135G7 processor, 8GB RAM and 512GB storage space.
There are also several Intel models at just $ 2299 that come with a Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage.
AMD's second model with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage will be available in about eight weeks and will be priced at $ 1,199.
There are more 15-inch AMD options, the AMD Ryzen 7 4980U starts at $ 1,299 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
You can configure up to $ 1,699 for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The 15-inch Intel Core i7 1185G7 model starts at $ 1799, has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and can choose between 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, priced at $ 2,399.
