Apple plans to release a new iPad mini this fall, which will see the biggest overhaul in its nine-year history, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gorman.

The new iPad mini is expected to have slimmer bezels, larger screens, faster performance and a design similar to the new iPad Air that Apple introduced last year.

This could be a huge change to Apple's smaller tablet, and its design has been very consistent since it debuted in 2012.

The news is in line with Bloomberg's previous report on the future device, which indicated last month that the device might omit the home button to allow for a narrower bezel.

The report notes that its design is similar to that of the iPad Air. This allows use of the Touch ID sensor built into the power button on the side.

In May 2020, analyst Ming-Chi Guo predicted that the screen size of Apple's next iPad mini in the first half of 2021 could be between 8.5 and 9 inches. Instead of the 7.9 inch screen that small devices always use.

Guo previously suggested that a future iPad mini could use a small LED display similar to the mini-LED display we recently saw in Apple's larger iPad Pro.

The new iPad mini is a sixth generation tablet. Redesigned in 2019 with Apple Pencil support and a faster A12 processor.

In addition, Gorman also reported that Apple has another iMac with an Apple Silicon processor. The screen measures 24 inches larger than the previous model.

This new device is set to replace the 27-inch model that is currently powered by Intel processors. The device can be powered by M1X processor or M2X processor. But other details are still unknown.

Many iMac users are waiting to upgrade to a larger screen model with the next generation of Apple Silicon.
