Google Meet gives users more options

Google is adding several new features to the Google Meet platform to make it easier for users to control and manage meetings.

However, the available commands vary depending on whether you use Google Meet as a regular user or as a member of the Google Workspace team.

The most significant update is that all users can now assign up to 25 participating moderators per meeting and access admin controls.

This way, they can decide who can share their screen, send chat messages, mute all participants with a single click, end the meeting, and control who can join the meeting. Although the latest feature is only available in certain versions of Google Workspace.

Previously, only Google Workspace for Education customers could nominate co-hosts.

If you're a Google Workspace customer, Google Meet also benefits from the new Quick Access setting. This is enabled by default. However, if it stops, it means that the meeting will not start until the host joins.

Users can also take certain actions, such as: for example, preventing anonymous users from joining or inviting only attendees from joining without requiring them to ensure that only people who must attend the meeting are present.

These changes are expected to be rolled out on August 16 for web and Android, and August 30 for iOS.

Google Meet gives users more options

Although Internet Explorer 11 will officially stop working next June. More and more online services are discontinuing support for older versions of Microsoft browsers, the latest being Google Meet.

Although Google ended support for Docs, Forms, Slides and other Google IE 11 workspace applications in March of this year. The search giant has moved browser support into its video conferencing software.

Google announced in a blog post that Google Meet users will not be able to access the service via IE 11 from August 17th.

Google recommends all users of its platform to switch from IE11 to Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari or Microsoft Edge. And that was before August 17, Tuesday, to avoid interruptions.

Note that support for Microsoft 365 apps also ended on the same day. Like Google, Microsoft recommends users switch to a modern browser to continue using the service.
