Apple announces new health features for watchOS 8

At WWDC's opening address, Apple announced watchOS 8, the latest version of the company's mobile platform.

The new version of watchOS 8 inherits from watchOS 7 from last year and will now be available for inexperienced developers to test their apps, and a public beta will be released in July.

The final public version is expected to be published this fall.

Apple has launched a new Mindfulness app, which is an extension of the Breathe app that keeps you breathing all day long.

The app adds new animations and other features to help you relax.

Fitness apps offer more types of Tai Chi and Pilates exercises. The Apple Watch Health app tracks your breathing while you sleep and alerts you outside of your normal habits.

The new screen interface allows you to take photos in portrait orientation on the iPhone and overlay text and other information behind them.

Apple says: You can customize what text appears and how it fits into the image itself.

Likewise, the Clock Photos app has been updated with a new design and the ability to share photos directly through messaging apps or Apple apps. There are new options for entering text when replying to a message.

WatchOS 8 received new functionality in iOS 15. A new focus mode is included that lets you choose which apps or contacts to send you notifications under certain circumstances.

Apple said the Apple Watch Series 6 is supported and can use its UWB chip as a car key. You can also use your watch to search for other Apple devices such as AirTag.

With the Home app, you can control smart home gadgets from your Apple Watch. Redesigned for watchOS 8, with more shortcuts for frequently used devices and the ability to view information about security cameras.

There are new features coming as well. Includes a precipitation warning for the next hour.

Other native apps can use the always-on display functionality on your Apple Watch. Includes map, alarm, now play, calls, podcast, stopwatch, timer and voice memo.

According to Apple, it also provides an API for third-party applications.

Additionally, you can set multiple timers on your Apple Watch at the same time and give them unique names. Apple has announced that watchOS 8 will be applicable to models after the Apple Watch Series 3.
